Signing up
Fill in the form at Build your own site. You'll give three things: your restaurant's name, the web address you'd like, and the email and password you'll sign in with.
Your web address is fixed once you sign up. It can't be changed from the admin afterwards, so pick carefully. If you get it wrong, email us and we'll sort it out — but it's much easier before you've shared the link or printed a QR code.
Why your site isn't live immediately
Every new site is checked by hand before it's switched on, so yours won't be reachable the moment you submit the form. You'll get an email confirming we received it, and a second email when it goes live with a link to sign in.
Until then, visiting your address shows a "not found" page. That's expected, not a fault.
Your first login
Once you're live, go to your own address and add /users/sign_in,
or use the "Admin Login" link in the footer. Sign in with the email and
password you chose at signup.
You'll then see an Administration menu in the navigation bar that visitors don't. That's where everything in this guide lives.
If you forget your password
Use the "Forgot your password?" link on the sign-in page. The reset email
arrives from #{BusinessDetails::MAIL_FROM} — check your spam
folder if it doesn't show up within a few minutes.
Already signed in? A password reset link will bounce you to your homepage rather than the reset form. Sign out first, or open the link in a private browsing window.
What to do first
- Add your menu sections and a few dishes — see Building your menu.
- Set your opening hours and contact details in Your details.
- Make it look like your place in Making it yours.
